Background Information
Born in 1969, I came from a middle-class family living in the Dayton suburb of Huber Heights, Ohio. My father, now retired from his factory job with General Motors, spent years living paycheck-to-paycheck to support our family of five. As a husband and father myself, I can truly appreciate his efforts.
I have learned a great deal from a life in public schools. I graduated with honors from Wayne High School in 1988 then attended Wright State University. Throughout my college years, I volunteered as a Little League baseball coach , and I worked a variety of jobs which included loading trucks and delivering pizzas. In 1994, I graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Comprehensive Social Studies Education and went to work as a substitute teacher. Later, I worked as a teacher for the Learning Disabled in Tipp City Schools. Most recently, I have taught Government and Sociology at Sidney High School for the last six years, and I am working towards a Master’s Degree. Like all dedicated teachers, I strive to reach all my students, impact their lives in positive ways, and empower each of them to be active participants in their community. I have always been a servant of the people, and this campaign is just another way to better serve the people of our state.
Though my experience in the political scene is limited, my understanding of how the system works is definitely comparable to other veteran candidates. I can put our system to work for all Ohioans and make this state a shining example of democracy!
CHASING THE AMERICAN DREAM
On a more personal note, I am happily married and have a beautiful son. My wife and I have agreed that she would stay home with our son until he (and any others to come) reaches school age. We live in rural Logan County in a 130-year-old house with crooked floors. I drive a beat-up 1977 Chevy pickup to work everyday. My neighbors are good, honest, hardworking people, and we help each other out whenever we can. We may not be rich financially, but we’re rich in family and friends!
