The month of June has passed, and it is has been strangely quiet in the political environment of Ohio. If one wasn’t carefully monitoring the news media, he may not even realize it’s a gubernatorial election year. Maybe this is just “the calm before the storm,” then we will see our fair share of television commercials glamorously promoting the few positive attributes of our incumbent governor. With our state mired deeply in the bog of Republican control and corruption, it is highly unlikely we will see any major changes from our pitiful situation. Prepare yourself for more of “the same ol’ stuff,” “status quo” carries on around here. The Democratic candidates have few positive attributes themselves, and they can only hope that enough voters turnout to vote against the Republicans who have mismanaged our budget, forsaken our schools, and left us marching toward disaster! How much longer will the rest of us remain silent?
I doubt Hagan will make much noise this November. I rarely read his name in the newspapers and never see him on television. I have to wonder who is managing his campaign. Do you know how many people I’ve encountered that don’t even know his name? I lost count long ago, but I still don’t miss an opportunity to educate a fellow citizen about the choices. Maybe today’s candidates are still operating under the “old school” philosophy that people only have about a month’s attention span when it comes to political issues? Seems to me that a strategic commercial or two broadcast right now would be money well spent! But Hagan’s campaign is practically broke when compared to the millions of dollars piling up in Taft’s account. (I’m still hovering around my projected budget of only 500 bucks!) I bet Taft’s campaign crew is laughing more with each passing day. They like it quiet. You know the saying, “No news is good news.” Unfortunately for us Ohioans, it’s not good news at all. Mr. Hagan, please make some noise!
As for us, we have until September to register as official “Write-in” candidates. I’ve been waiting for this month, the celebration of our nation’s independence to send in our official application. We are also eager to hear the results of Natural Law Party candidate, John Eastman’s petition campaign, and we hope he is successful in obtaining ballot status for this November. In the meantime, we continue to receive emails and build our support status as a new political party which should be called the “Restoration Party.” We seek to RESTORE the power of the people to government.
There is another group which is making some noise for a better future. I’ve recently been contacted by Rich Stevenson of Cincinnati who founded The Independent Voters Alliance (IVA). This organization’s main purpose is to organize independent voters and train them to be qualified petition circulators for independent candidates. Please checkout their website at http://members.aol.com/Uptuyunow/. Now that’s taking a huge step towards active citizenship.
Throughout this patriotic month, we encourage you to spread the word of our campaign and encourage everyone to write-in their selection for governor versus punching the hole in the ballot. We would also welcome you to join our mailing list so we can keep you up-to-date on our activities. Let’s celebrate our freedom by making some real noise in state government this year!
